Dr. Harden was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan.  His undergraduate alma mater is the University of Notre Dame, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, magna cum laude.  

Medical training took him to Baltimore, Maryland, where he graduated from The Johns Hopkins Medical School.

He then completed training in Internal Medicine in Houston, at Baylor College of Medicine at Texas Medical Center.

Allergy training took Dr. Harden to the University of Michigan, where he completed a fellowship in adult and pediatric allergy and immunology.  He is board-certified both in Internal Medicine and in Allergy and Immunology.  Please click for Dr. Harden’s curriculum vitae .

Upon graduation, Dr. Harden initially practiced in Illinois, and then Ohio.

Dr. Harden settled in Austin in 1987 and has practiced here since that time.

He is married and has four children.  In addition to practicing medicine, he has been active in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts for a number of years.  At present he is an Assistant Scoutmaster.  His hobbies include gardening, hiking, fishing and hunting.

Some interesting trivia about Dr. Harden include his prior employment during college and medical school.  These included investigating adverse drug reactions, measuring hormone levels in a research laboratory, working at the Ford Motor Company on the design and testing of catalytic converters, and performing chemical analyses and quality control tests in a brewery laboratory.
